Team India batter Shubman Gill discharged from Chennai hospital, unlikely to miss the Pakistan match in World Cup

Shubman Gill's has been battling an illness and was sidelined from India's first match against Australia at the World Cup 2023 in Chennai.

The BCCI released a statement on Monday advising that the right-hander will remain in Chennai and not travel to Delhi for the second match of the World Cup.

According to BCCI:  Shubman Gill will not be travelling with the team to Delhi for the Afghanistan clash on 9th October 2023," "He will stay back in Chennai and will be under the BCCI supervision of the medical team."

" The Indian opener Shubman Gill who missed opening clash of the World Cup 2023 against Australia in Delhi on October 8 and set to miss the coming match against Afghanistan in Delhi on October 11.  Check Also: England tour of West Indies, Match Schedule, Venues, Date & Time and more updates

Shubman Gill, who is the currently down with dengue, has been hospitalised in Chennai hospitals after his platelet count dropped below 100,000 but has been subsequently release as he still remains a doubtful for World Cup match against Pakistan on October 14

In Shubman Gill's absence Ishan Kishan is likey to get another chance to open with captain Rohit Sharma.

According to The Indian Express: Shubman Gill likely to take another week to recover, selectors to discuss with team management if  Yashasvi Jaiswal or Ruturaj Gaikwad should come in as cover.

The senior national selection committee, which will meet on the sidelines of India vs Afghanistan on Wednesday, is set to decide on Gill's participation in India's remaining World Cup matches. (reported by The Indian Express)
